NEW YORK, NY/ONALASKA, WI - New York City based tiny agency Gypsies Tramps + Thieves, has been named “The Most Clever Agency of the Decade, in our minds” by founder and Creative Director Mark Abellera’s parents, Dr. R. Mario and Fe Abellera. The elderly retired couple have had their eye on GTT ever since its inception in 2015 and have always been the #1 fan of their work. They were happy to make the announcement over the phone, during their weekly call with Abellera last week from their home on a golf course in Wisconsin. “To us, the things you do are so CLEVER and creative! Even our Mahjong friends think so!”

Abellera conceived GTT in 2015 as a ‘virtual project based creative brand consultancy’. They began working with Argosy University, an online university based in Southern California, by branding their Graduate School of Behavioral Sciences and doing various project work for their campuses around the country. Since then, GTT was able to pick up projects for several biotech brands out of Cambridge, Massachusetts. These projects involved everything from logo design, comms strategies (digital and social), content and brand film creation and website design/development. Their branding and website effort for Inari Agriculture helped the new “agtech” company find its own unique and quirky voice. This included an interactive “mini-festo” that positioned Inari as the company that will be “changing the culture of agriculture.” Several other biotech brands caught wind of the work and approached GTT to help them with their branding and site design. The latest website they will launch for a new immunotherapy company will also include an interactive “mini-festo”. Abellera’s parents are said to be “on pins and needles to see it!”

“We’re not sure what a mini-festo is, but it sounds clever!” Dr. Abellera said. (“mini-festo” is GTT’s version of a “manifesto”; just shorter and with fewer self-imploding sentences.) “As a doctor, I’ve always thought he was very creative and non-scientific.”

Abellera’s mom went on to say, “We remember when Mark was a writer at some agencies that had been named “Agency of the Year” …the one in LA with the basketball court in the middle of the agency, “Shee-yacht Day”, was VERY creative! And even the one in New York where he worked on the mobile phone with all those special effects, it was like watching a movie!” Mark’s mom went on to say, “When we talked with him on the phone last week, he was envious of all these other agencies were being named Global Network of the Year, Agency of the Year finalists, and even Agency of the Decade, so we told him “Oh Marky, you’re OUR agency of the decade! Gypsy, Trampoline or whatever the name of your agency or collective or whatever you’re calling it is… is clever either way!”

Abellera summed up GTT’s news by saying he supposes his parents were inclined to unanimously name GTT Agency of the Decade, in part because they don’t like “…who does that Flo from Progressive. Do you know who does that? She’s so annoying!”

It should also be noted that Abellera’s niece/his parent’s granddaughter, Becca Abellera, who is an up and coming copywriter at genuine finalist for Agency of the Year, anomaly of NYC, was named “Greatest Copywriter Ever!” by her Lolo and Lola (even though Abellera himself is a copywriter by trade)
