“GYPSYS, TRAMPS AND THIEVES” IS THE SONG SUNG BY CHER in 1971. GYPSIES TRAMPS + THIEVES IS THE CREATIVE BRAND CONSULTANCY STARTED BY MARK ABELLERA IN 2015.

The GT+T name was inspired by the classic chart topping song of the same name but with a different spelling. GT+T began as a small group of nomadic freelancers that came together when an online university invited Mark to pitch their national account. He assembled a team of planners, graphic designers and other freelancers and presented a 102 page deck of insightful thinking. The client loved what they heard and saw, but weren’t ready to award their national account to a small agency with a 1970’s pop song for a name. They did however want GT+T to handle some immediate needs and so the first GT+T projects got underway. Since then, GT+T has worked with biotech start ups, organic food brands and other partners looking for help with telling their stories to the world. As Executive Creative Director/Founder, Mark himself brings 20+ years as a Creative Director/Copywriter at some of the world’s most respected and creative agencies including Goodby Silverstein & Partners, TBWA/Chiat/Day, Bartle Bogle Hegarty/NYC and Wieden + Kennedy. His work has been awarded and recognized by Cannes, The One Show, Communication Arts, The Clios and by the National Academy of Arts and Sciences (an Emmy). GT+T continues to take on projects helping brands tell their stories and, so far, has not been sued by Cher.

GYPSIES TRAMPS + THIEVES IS A NETWORK OF TALENTED PEOPLE. Freelancers are their craft. Their enthusiasm isn't bogged down by repetition. They come in to a project with fresh legs, big eyes and one goal; create the best stuff possible. Even if it’s a PB+J before they sit down to their computers--Dammit, they're going to put their all into it!

A CULTURE OF COLLABORATION. We keep our teams small and nimble for each project. Everyone has a part in everything. No one is left out, least of all our partners. This keeps dialogues open, ideas flowing, the ball moving and smiles smiling.                                                                                                                     

PROGRESS OVER PROCESS. Sometimes “the way” to work gets in the way of the work. And that’s the worst way to work. (Ok, enough of the “work/way” overkill). We take advantage of our size and lack of layers to get to an efficient and productive manner in which to work. We construct a framework for each partnership and project that allows for open communication and adaptation so ideas rise to the surface and no one gets caught below it.

WHAT YOU REALLY WANNA KNOW: We look to build simple direct relationships with our partners, listen to and focus on their objectives then create a clear plan to reach them. Our obligations to holding companies are non-existent. Scopes don't include paying for an Italian espresso machines in the break room. Teams and budgets are tailored to the project and we try to keep the timelines tight enough so ideas stay fresh, people don’t get drained, and time and money don’t get burned. Simply: We aim high, move fast, operate small and bring big ideas to the table! (unless it's a conference call, in which case, we'll bring them to the phone)
